NCC & Residents Meeting 01/08/2023
A meeting was held on the 1st Aug with Councillor Bryne present and residents at Newcastle City Council to discuss the Jemsond LTN
A select few were invited which consisted of 20 local representatives. The purpose of the meeting was apparently to discuss alternative ideas should the bollards become permanent.
The general feeling from this meeting was that there is a lot of dissatisfaction with the scheme and whilst there was discussion and ideas put forward for which Jayne Bryne was absent for nothing was really gained from the event.
NCC Given Breach Notice by the IOC
Newcastle City Council have been given a Breach Notice following their failure to provide information requested in an FOI within the timescales.
The ICO served the Breach of Section 10(1) of FOIA to NCC and they were given 35 days to respond.
We understand that NCC did comply with the Notice and responded. However it appears that the info they supplied was incomplete and so the request is ongoing.

Further Developments over The Audit Committee Meeting and the resulting Internal Review.
A Letter has been published on Twitter written by a Jesmond resident, Neil Murphy and signed by 59 Anons to NCC Chief Exec Pam Smith to question why the Audit Committee discussed the East Jesmond LTN
David Wilkinson has also written an open letter in response.
Internal review into Newcastle's Low Traffic Neighbourhoods to take place after public outcry
David Wilkinson's persistence and tenacity after initially being refused, paid off on Friday after he was granted 5 minutes to speak before the Newcastle City Council's Audit Committee. His presentation aired concerns about the bias and a lack of objectivity after the Council gave a minority group in Jesmond called Space for Jesmond, the loudest voice in the consultation for East Jesmond LTN. Many residents and businesses were not consulted at all and the Council used skewed data to back up their LTN scheme in the recent Interim report. Newcastle City Council demonstrated an obvious lack of compliance with Statutory Guidelines.
There will now be an Internal Review of the LTNS implemented across the City.
Public consultation comments from North East Ambulance Service and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service
The council obviously feel the need to repeat that there are no issues with the LTN delaying Emergency Services by issuing this statement.
The pictures they mention are not the pictures and videos residents have of Ambulances and Police getting lost amongst the bollards and their statement is another futile attempt at gaslighting everyone to believe otherwise.
Interim Report
Half way through the consultation period the council have produced an interim report. Many stats and information relied on is highly questionable and more information is needed to make this report hold any weight in the argument for/against LTN
It does give us all insight into the Councils investigatory methods to support their plans. and their use of and the manipulation of statistics and using carefully crafted wording which is rather insulting to many......
Northumbria Police FOI Response
In response to a FOI request the Police reports "this TRO is likely to adversely impact our ability to provide effective policing in the area
This report goes against everything that Councillor Bryne claims and now stands accused of 'burying' information because it goes against the LTN
Joint Statement Northumbria Police and Newcastle Council
Following the publication of the FOI response the Council and Police have produced a rather pointless statement in attempt to patch up the big gaping holes in their story....
